RoleSummary & Objective

The Vice President Human Resources is responsible for supportingand partnering with the Vice President of Engineering and the Vice President ofOperations, and the President Advanced Programs of the Sensor Systems Segmentin accordance with the policies and practices of L3 Sensor Systems, the ethicaland social consciences of business and society, and the laws, regulations andadministrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory andadvisory authorities and organizations.

The incumbent will also be responsible for strategic humanresource planning, alongside the SVP of Human Resources, the Sr. Director ofOrganizational Development, Finance leadership, and other Segment executives toprovide the Sensor Systems Engineering and Operations functions with the besttalent available and to position the organization as the employer of choice bybeing aware of policies, practices and trends within the industry.

EssentialFunctions

  • Working closely with Sector and Business Unit leadership, translates the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans.

  • Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning of the Segments new programs/strategies and regulatory action as it relates to Engineering/IRAD initiatives and rationalization of satellite engineering sites

  • Participates in the development of the Segment’s plans and programs as a strategic partner, but particularly from the perspective Engineering and Operations projects and initiatives across the individual business units.

  • Coordination and Project Management of rationalization and establishment of engineering satellite projects across the Segment’s US locations.

  • Develops staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent internal and external to the organization for positions of responsibility.

  • Partners with Segment organizational development to implement talent and compensation plans for the engineering and operations functions.

  • Develops progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance.

  • Working with sector HR leads, provides organizational support across the segment, specifically as it relates Mergers and Acquisitions, including post acquisition initiatives.

  • Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs to fill the identified gaps. Areas of activity will include talent management through proper succession planning programs for the Segment engineering and operations organizations

  • Establishes credibility throughout the organization to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.

  • Develops appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the organization. Included in this area would be programs for employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee complaints, external education and career development, among others.

  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce HR policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. In particular, manages the human resource information systems database and provides necessary reports for critical analyses of the HR function and the people resources of the organization.

  • Maintains knowledge of international HR policies, programs, laws and issues. Understands the differences of domestic and international policies and programs and coordinates the integration of all such programs.

  • Provides technical advice and knowledge to others within the human resource discipline.

  • Provide Organizational support across the Segment, particularly to as it relates to Segment Engineering and Operational initiatives.

  • Provide support of Segment level ethics programs, as well as segment ethics investigations when necessary.

  • Manages other areas such as relocation, employee communication, employee safety and health, and community relations.

  • Continues improving the programs, policies, practices and processes associated with meeting the strategic and operational people issues of the organization.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors' Degree is required, with a Masters’ stronglypreferred.

  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience providing HRBP support andleadership in an engineering and manufacturing environment, previous experiencesupporting DoD, Aerospace and Defense highly desired.

  • Has provided HRBP support to C-level and Senior Leadershipwithin a large corporate environment.

  • Previous success and proven ability to effectively managepeople and projects in a highly decentralized, cross-functional, and multi-siteorganization.

  • Demonstrated, thorough understanding of recruitment, talentmanagement & succession processes and tools as well as the requirements forOFCCP compliance

  • Previous experience in implementation HR practices &policies to support the business and meet compliance requirements for thecompany, while fostering growth.

  • Prior management of M&A process and post-acquisitionchange management and initiatives

  • Ideally possess one of the following designations: SHRM-CP,SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR or GPHR

  • Proven ability to effectively manage a budget and multipleprojects in various phases of completion.

  • The incumbent in this role may be required to accessclassified information for which the basic requirement is US Citizenship.

  • Up to 35% travel will be required for this role.
