Job Summary: Work with manufacturing department, customer service, purchasing and research and development to conduct analytical testing of raw spices, extracts, raw materials and finished goods and compare them to standard samples and/or product specifications. Duties also include lab, method and instrumentation upkeep and maintenance. The essential Job functions are defined below: Essential Job Functions: QC Technician II Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory, lab equipment and adequate stocks of reagents. Must have the ability to interpret scientific data and understand the impact of the results on the business with minimal assistance from the Supervisor or other technicians. Basic analytical chemistry, including the preparation of reagents. Perform basic problem solving, trouble shooting of laboratory equipment. May assist in technician training. Must have the ability to independently run scientific, method improvement, or continuous improvement projects. Must be able to learn and perform calculations, troubleshoot analytical results and perform basic troubleshooting analysis of non-conformances. Must be able to identify unusual lab results and bring to the attention of the Production Manager. Must be able to comprehend approved methods and initiate revisions. Must be able to learn, validate and implement new methods. Assist with Food Safety Initiatives including but not limited to; environmental monitoring, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Plan (HACCP). QC Technician III Must independently perform all duties of a QC Technician II. Must maintain and trouble-shoot the more complex laboratory equipment, such as the HPLC and GC, with minimal assistance while still performing routine QC lab tasks. Must identify and investigate out of specification results with instruments, assays and/or production processes and troubleshoot for solutions. Performs and/or coordinates training for other QC technicians. Maintains logs and records in QC according to GMP s. QC Technician IV / Auditor Must perform all duties of QC Technician III. Must be an expert for all lab instrumentation and methods. Leads and actively trains other QC technicians in problem solving, troubleshooting, instrumentation operation, maintenance and calibration of equipment. Coaches and mentors others. Identifies and leads continuous improvement projects using a structured problem-solving approach. May collaborate on cross functional projects. Identifies, evaluates, optimizes and coordinates implementation of new test methods and/or equipment for QC. Performs calibration of equipment including but not limited to HPLC and GC. Participate in efforts, interfacing with different groups and organizations (internal and external) about cleanliness (GMP s), sanitation, organic compliance, and regulatory compliance in the workplace QC Technician Role Profile: Comply with all safety standards. Proactively identify and mitigate safety risks. Participate in training and studies designed to: 1. Improve or maintain assay accuracy. 2. Implement the use of new equipment or new procedures. 3. Satisfy ASTA requirements for inter and intra lab collaborative studies. 4. Engage in problem solving activities. Education/Experience/Skills: Required:  Can perform data entry, navigate computer software.  Ability to work through conflict.  Ability to work in a team.  Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.  QC Technician II: Schooling: 4-year Bachelors Degree or 0-3 years of equivalent lab experience.  QC Technician III: Schooling: 4-year Bachelors Degree with 3-5 years of relevant lab experience.  QC Technician IV: Schooling: 4-year Bachelors Degree with 5+ years of lab experience Desired:  Formal schooling in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering, instrumentation, mathematics and statistics,
