Cell Services Operator
Olin Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls, a division of Olin Corporation, has an opportunity for a Cell Service Operator at the Freeport, Texas location. We are looking for technically capable operators who embrace change, adapt fast, make decisions quickly, possess self-confidence and leadership skills and are lifelong learners. This position will work in a Union environment. After an individual applies and meets the minimum qualifications for the position, technical testing will be scheduled. Passing the technical testing is required to move forward through the hiring process. Interviews will be scheduled with select individuals based on position requirements. If an offer is made, the individual must then complete and pass a comprehensive physical function test, background check and drug screen in order to start work.
The Cell Services Operators support Chlorine 3, Chlorine 4, Chlorine 5, and Chlorine 7 by performing manual labor jobs on both M-83 diaphragm chlorine cells and ML-60 membrane chlorine cells. This is typically a straight day, 40 hour per week job. Work schedules are modified to meet the requirements of each scheduled job. Scheduled overtime can occur during cell rebuild work or during emergency cell repair activity.
The primary job function is to perform cell component assembly and cell component replacement in the field as scheduled by the Diaphragm Cell Rebuild Technical Advisor and the Membrane Cell Rebuild Technical Advisor.
The Cell Services Operators also perform the intermittent cell rebuild work at the chlorine plants listed above. This requires cooperation and team work with the contract crews brought in to supplement the cell rebuild operator labor pool during this intermittent work. There is no distinction made between the scope of work for the Cell Rebuild Operators and the contract crews. Cell rebuild work assignments are made depending upon skill level and worker availability.
In addition to field work, some operators may be assigned to work in the Texas Cell Services Facility. The facility's purpose is to clean and repair ML-60 membrane chlorine cells. The tasks in the facility include operating the solvent wash stations, weld repair, cell gasketing, painting, quality inspections, and inventory. These assignments will be at the leader's discretion and based on each individual's proficiency and job interest.
When there is no scheduled cell maintenance or cell rebuild work, the cell rebuild operators are utilized to assist the Day Cell Operators perform routine cell treatment and sample collection.
When there is no scheduled cell maintenance or cell rebuild activity or Day Cell Operator activity, the Cell Rebuild Operators will provide support for shutdowns, general housekeeping, or any other assigned task as needed to fill their work schedules.
A High School Diploma
Be able to work around strong electromagnetic fields (no pacemakers, etc.)
Be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
Be able to squat/kneel 80 times in 2 hours.
Be able to work in cold and hot environments for extended periods of time, with breaks (over 120F during the summer).
Be able to climb stairs and work at heights.
Be able to work overtime when needed or required (including weekends & holidays).
Must have a current, valid, United States driver license
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis
(U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or Qualifying Asylee/Refugee).
