Summary Statement: Performs assigned duties requiring moderate skills associated with precision machining of metal and plastic parts by operating CNC machine shop equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Utilize skills/knowledge to setup and operate CNC machines effectively. Utilize working knowledge of Machine Shop health, safety, and environmental requirements. Perform setup of machine shop equipment. Load material into saws and/or CNC equipment. Operate machine shop equipment (saws, CNC lathes, CNC mills, etc.) to produce parts efficiently. Monitor equipment while running. Remove parts from machines upon completion of process. Perform preliminary inspection/verification of parts to ensure parts meet requirements. Report problems to Machine Shop Shift Leader. Perform deburr, painting, and other miscellaneous tasks associated with completing parts production. Packs and moves parts as required for additional processing and/or inspection activities. Perform housekeeping and clean-up tasks as required. Perform all other duties requested, directed, or assigned. Education and Experience: 3+ years of CNC machining experience (with proficiency in both Lathes and Mills) producing tight tolerance parts. 1+ year(s) programming CNC equipment to produce tight tolerance parts. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skilled at reading, interpreting, and understanding drawings, sketches, technical documentations and information. Strong mechanical aptitude. Skilled at tool selection, order of machining operations for efficiency, feed rates, etc. Ability to use measurement and inspection equipment to verify parts specifications/dimensions. Working knowledge of machine routine maintenance activities. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering documentation, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation and drawings. Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic math, algebra, geometric tolerancing and base statistical data. Proven knowledge and skills of safety/environmental measures associated with machining operations. Good English communication skills. Good communication skills to communicate professionally with shop personnel and management. Physical and Mental Demands: Continuously operate machines that require the loading of materials into the machine, removal of parts from the machine, and entering/editing data in the machine. Frequently position self to perform the aforementioned activities which include moving about the machines, reaching above and below shoulder level to load and unload materials into machines. This position occasionally twists, stoops and bends to perform job duties as well as to push and pull. Must be able to monitor machine operations and perform verifications of the physical attributes of machined parts.
