Job Description

Desired Characteristics:

Supplier Quality Engineer role includes Supplier Qualification Assurance and Development. Must have strong understanding of technical and regulatory aspects of ASME BPVC and applicable API standards (12K and 1104). Must have strong understanding of manufacturing processes required for delivery of a quality product.

Overall strong; oral and written communication, interpersonal, leadership and problem solving skills as well as the ability to work independently.

Role Summary:

SQE role includes supplier qualifications, improvement and action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence. SQEs are able to understand and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and code requirements.

Candidate will have the ability to manage vendors, assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on supplier acceptability. Understand strategies for assigned commodities & proactively drive initiatives to meet Sourcing objectives. Support commodity buys.

Successful candidate will communicates with Product Line, Engineering, Manufacturing and Sourcing team and supervisor. Present to internal teams on metrics, project status and research. Provides supplier feedback on proposals for improvement in approaches, methods, procedures and processes.

Drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation. Assistant in the selection of suppliers through qualification processes. Own supplier results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards. Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed. Positions requiring understanding of a concepts, methods and procedures to enable sourcing

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Improve supplier quality performance for assigned suppliers via Quality Plan implementation.

  • Approve supplier selection through robust qualification processes.

  • Assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence

  • Assure supplier compliance to Exterran process and regulatory requirements through supplier monitoring process.

  • Develop positive relationships and work closely with Global Sourcing Leaders, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Leaders to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, New Product Introductions, and transfers.

  • Interface with Suppliers, Engineering, Service, Manufacturing and Sourcing to drive Quality improvements that minimize the Costs of Quality, specifically Failed on Arrival/Install (FOA/FOI) issues, Field Failures, and Factory defects.

  • Assure Corrective and Preventive Action plans are developed and executed at assigned suppliers in compliance with the CAPA process.

  • All other duties as assigned by manager

  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

  • Ensure a compliant and qualified supply base by conducting supplier evaluations.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other Technical degree with well-established experience in ASME BPVC requirements and manufacturing, or an Associate’s Degree with 3 years manufacturing, engineering, or quality assurance experience in BPVC or a High School Diploma with a minimum of four years of ASME BPVC manufacturing experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet development and analysis and proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

  • Effective problem solving, root-cause analytical skills to lead and influence others to drive change (cross-functionally and globally).

  • Expertise in ASME compliant manufacturing processes

  • Ability to effectively communicate

  • Demonstrated collaboration, negotiation & conflict resolution skills with suppliers

  • Excellent oral communication & report-writing skills.

  • Fluency in English and in Spanish

  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically 10 days / month
