POSITION: Engineer - Research & Process Development

The Research & Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing new technologies to enhance the reliability and performance of equipment. The engineer is responsible for developing/optimizing processes to improve efficiency. This role will also provide technical support to our operational group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts research, design and development of standard engineering assignments

  • Travels to the wellsite to observe and evaluate equipment performance

  • Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes sound design recommendations

  • Produces research materials to provide technological advantage to the company (i.e. patents)

  • Participates in industry related organizations (i.e. SPE) to ensure the company is aware of industry’s latest trends

  • Maintains awareness on the latest technologies used in the industry

  • Develop and improve equipment design and processes to enhance service life-cycle and operation efficiency

  • Addresses all issues and works closely with key stakeholders on equipment/components failures and issues

  • Supports operations, 3rd parties, manufacturing and engineering

  • Works closely with departments to develop and improve products/services

  • Conducts and analyzes equipment designs using engineering principals, 3D modeling, and FEA/CFD simulations

  • Manages workload and ensures timely, efficient, and effective completion of assigned projects/tasks

  • Identifies and implements improvements to equipment and design and provides support

  • Produces technical documentation related to equipment design and processes

  • Ensues all documents are easily accessible and properly maintained (e.g. drawings, procedures, etc.)

  • Assist engineering on testing equipment and analyzing technical data

  • Promotes a safe workplace and follows safety standards at all times

  • Complies with statutory regulations and organizational safety requirements

  • Provides leadership for the team, collaborative goal setting and evaluating progress

  • Willingness to accept new assignments and ability complete assigned task timely

  • Maintains good communicate and information flow within the team

  • Maintains and adheres to BJ’s High Reliability Operation (HRO)

  • Prepares equipment training manuals

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5+ years’ experience

  • 3+ years in Research and Development

  • 2+ years as a Field Engineer in well servicing company is an asset

  • Field experience and familiar with well servicing operations

  • Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively

  • Experience with understanding projects from the perspective of both client and business

  • Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities, as necessary

  • Strong attention to details

  • Preferred Experience

  • Engineering degree preferred

  • Fluent in Labview, Matlab and other engineering software preferred

  • Certifications are a plus
